From 23 October 2025, settlement for private health insurance claims will be processed via the New Payments Platform (NPP).
This means your payments will reach your bank account faster, typically by the next business day after processing.

What's changing?

Currently, HealthPoint settles claim payments using the Bulk Electronic Clearing System (BECS).
While BECS is reliable, it can take up to three business days for payments to appear in your account after they’re processed.

With the move to the New Payments Platform (NPP), payments will be processed in under a minute – learn more about Osko.

When do I get paid?

With the move to the New Payments Platform, settlement for private health insurance claims will happen the next business day after your claim is processed, as long as your bank supports NPP.

If your bank account isn’t NPP-enabled, your settlement will be processed through BECS instead, which can take up to three business days, depending on your bank.

For example:
If your claim is processed on a Monday, your payment should reach your account on Tuesday, as long as your bank supports NPP.

What is my bank isn't NPP-enabled?

If your bank account is NPP-enabled, your claim payments will be processed through BECS and take up to three business days depending on your bank.

You can check if your account supports NPP by contacting your bank or checking your online banking app for features like Osko®, PayID®, or real-time payments.

When will this change start?

The roll out of NPP processing for private health claim settlements via HealthPoint begins on 23 October 2025.

Do I need to do anything?

No, there’s nothing you need to do.

This change will happen automatically, and you’ll receive your claim settlements via the New Payments Platform (NPP) if your bank account supports it.

About your bank statement.

For payments made via the New Payments Platform, you’ll notice a small change to how settlements appear on your bank statement.

The payment reference number (or bank lodgement reference) will now use a slightly longer format, changing from HPC+9 digits to HPC+15 digits.

This reference helps you identify your claim payment and doesn’t affect the amount or timing of your settlement.
