Tyro Health Online gives your patients more choice in how they pay, including the option to pay with PayPal.
When paying with PayPal, eligible patients may also be able to choose PayPal Pay in 4, allowing them to split the cost of their payment into four repayments managed by PayPal.
How can patients pay with PayPal?
When a patient pays using a Tyro Health Online payment link, they can select PayPal at checkout.
They'll then be taken through the PayPal checkout experience, where they can choose from the payment options available to them through their PayPal account.
Depending on their account and eligibility, this may include:
their PayPal balance
an eligible bank account or card linked to PayPal
PayPal Pay in 4.
The payment options available to each patient are determined by PayPal and may differ between patients and transactions.
What is PayPal Pay in 4?
PayPal Pay in 4 allows eligible patients to split the cost of an eligible payment into four repayments managed by PayPal.
If Pay in 4 is available to the patient, they'll see the option when completing their payment through PayPal.
Eligibility for Pay in 4 is determined by PayPal. Tyro Health and your practice don't determine whether a patient is eligible.
Can every patient use PayPal Pay in 4?
No. PayPal determines whether Pay in 4 is available to a patient and for a particular transaction.
If Pay in 4 isn't available, the patient can choose from the other payment options presented to them by PayPal.
What's the difference between Tyro Health Online instalment plans and PayPal Pay in 4?
Tyro Health Online instalment plans are set up and managed by your practice, allowing you to arrange for a patient to make payments over time.
PayPal Pay in 4 is offered and managed by PayPal. If eligible, the patient chooses Pay in 4 themselves when completing their payment through PayPal.
When a patient uses Pay in 4, your practice receives settlement for the full transaction through the usual settlement process. PayPal separately manages the patient's repayments.
Tyro Health Online instalment plans and PayPal Pay in 4 are separate options, so the introduction of Pay in 4 doesn't replace Tyro Health Online instalment plans.
Do I need to enable PayPal?
No. You don't need to create a PayPal account, set up PayPal separately or enter into a separate agreement with PayPal.
PayPal is available as an additional payment option through Tyro Health Online payments.
Does it cost more to accept PayPal?
No separate PayPal fee applies.
PayPal transactions are charged at the same rate as your existing Tyro Health Online payments.
When will I receive funds from PayPal payments?
PayPal payments are settled to your nominated settlement account through Tyro Health Online. PayPal payments are settled through the usual Tyro Health Online settlement process.
Transactions are settled after the daily cut-off and then transferred to your nominated bank account. The time it takes for funds to reach your account may depend on your financial institution and settlement method.
If a patient uses PayPal Pay in 4, you don't need to wait for the patient to make all four repayments. Your practice receives settlement for the full transaction, while PayPal manages the patient's repayments separately.
How do refunds work for PayPal payments?
If you refund a PayPal transaction, the refund is returned to the original payment method used by the patient.
How long the refund takes to appear can vary depending on how the patient funded their PayPal payment.
If the patient used PayPal Pay in 4, PayPal manages any resulting changes to their Pay in 4 repayment arrangement.
What card types can patients use with PayPal?
PayPal supports major credit and debit cards, including Visa, Mastercard and American Express.
Patients can use an eligible card linked to their PayPal account when completing a PayPal payment through Tyro Health Online. They may also have other payment methods available through their PayPal account, such as a linked bank account or PayPal balance.
The payment methods available to each patient are determined by PayPal and may vary depending on their account and transaction.
Can I use PayPal with my practice management software (PMS)?
Yes. If your practice management software supports Tyro Health Online payments, PayPal will be available as a payment option when your patients pay online.
You don't need to make any changes to your PMS or set up PayPal separately.
You can check whether your PMS supports Tyro Health Online payments on our PMS integrations page.
Who should patients contact about Pay in 4 eligibility or repayments?
PayPal manages Pay in 4 eligibility and the patient's repayment arrangement.
If a patient has questions about whether they're eligible for Pay in 4, their repayments or their PayPal account, they should contact PayPal or refer to the information available in their PayPal account.
