Today, May 10, 2021, we are excited to announce the acquisition of Medipass by leading Australian fintech, Tyro Payments, Australia’s largest provider of EFTPOS solutions outside of the big 4 banks.

At Medipass, our mission is to simplify Australian healthcare payments and claiming. As a combined entity, we are really excited about the opportunity to soon offer healthcare providers with even more ways to get paid, with more integrations into software vendors and healthcare funders, all from a single platform.

We know that this news will raise some questions and uncertainty for you and we’ll keep you updated as we work our way through what this announcement will mean for you and your business. Rest assured, your needs will continue to be our top priority, and your feedback will continue to contribute to our product roadmap. We will update this page over the coming weeks, so please check back regularly for updates.

We have answered some of the questions you might have below, but please let us know if you have any other questions or concerns. You can email these through at the email address below.

Who is Tyro?

Tyro is a technology-focused and values-driven company providing Australian businesses with payment solutions and value-adding business banking products. They are Australia's fifth largest merchant acquiring bank by number of terminals in the market, behind the four major banks. The company provides simple, flexible and reliable payment solutions as a merchant acquirer, along with complimentary business banking products.

What does this new ownership structure mean for my Medipass provider account?

There will be no immediate change to the way your current Medipass solution works. Over time, we will be exploring additional integrations and features that we can offer that expand on our current proposition to providers.

Is my customer data shared between Medipass and Tyro?

As Medipass is being fully acquired by Tyro, there may be some services and data which necessarily might be shared between organisations. Medipass will always strictly adhere to our Privacy Policy, and if any changes to this policy are required, you will be notified ahead of time.

Do I need to do any product migration as a result of this announcement?

In the short term, there will be no change to the way your existing Medipass features work. Over time, we will be working to bring the best of Medipass and Tyro solutions to providers including more practice software integrations and additional payment solutions.

Do I need to change my payment and merchant facilities?

There will be no change to the way in which Medipass Card Payments work today. Again, over time we will explore ways in which we can deliver enhanced solutions to providers as a result of this announcement.

Will this affect Medipass pricing for my business?

There are no changes to how we currently charge for Medipass features, or pricing. Any changes to pricing will always be communicated well in advance.

What happens to support?

There is no change to support arrangements, with the Medipass team continuing to support the Medipass solution. Continue to reach out to us via chat or email with any questions you may have.

What does this mean for my HICAPS integration?

There is no change to your HICAPS integration (or any Medipass integration). We will continue to work with HICAPS to support service providers who choose to use Medipass to raise digital and terminal free HICAPS claims.

What does this mean for my practice management software integration?

There is no change to any Medipass integration. We will continue to work with our partners to support service providers using an integrated practice management software platform, and we look forward to expanding our suite of integrations.
