Supporting ADF families with accessible healthcare is important to us. Here's how to make claiming straightforward:

What is the ADF Family Health Program?

The program helps families of permanent ADF members and full-time reservists access affordable healthcare, especially during relocations. If eligible, participants can claim with any provider enabled for Tyro Health's HealthPoint EFTPOS service.

Program benefits

  • Eligible participants receive $800 annually for allied and specialist health services.

  • Participants can use benefits at providers who are enabled for Tyro Health's HealthPoint Private Health Insurance claiming service - no additional provider registration is required.

  • Benefits can be used for direct claiming or to reduce gaps/co-payments from other insurance.

  • The program complements rather than replaces Private Health Insurance.

Claims processing guidelines for providers

It's easy to process ADF Family Health claims through your Tyro EFTPOS terminal - it works the same other health fund claims.

Claiming multiple funds?

Unlike most health funds, you can use ADF Family Health alongside private health insurance. Here's how:

  1. Process the private health insurance claim first.

  2. Still have a gap to pay? Create a second claim:

    • Use the same details as the first claim

    • Set the service item(s) charge amount to match the remaining gap

    • Swipe the ADF Family card

    • Any remaining gap becomes the patient's responsibility

While double claiming is generally not permitted with multiple funds, ADF Family Health is a permitted exception.

πŸ’‘ Tip for Providers: Most practice management systems require separate invoices for multiple claims on the same service. Creating a second invoice for the ADF Family claim will assist with end-of-day reconciliation, as these and private health insurance benefits appear as separate line items in HealthPoint claims and payment reconciliation reports.
