What is it?

When your Tyro Health Pro Key is in integrated mode (connected to your Practice Management Software/PMS) you can also start on-device payments or Private Health Insurance claims (including OVHC) when needed, without manually switching terminal modes.

This is designed for clinics that use their PMS integration for most transactions, but occasionally need to submit a claim and/or payment (such as a gap payment) that isn’t supported by their PMS workflow.

When would I use it?

This feature is helpful if you:

  • Process most transactions through your PMS (integrated mode), and;

  • Sometimes need to submit an ad-hoc Private Health Insurance claims, including OVHC.

Common examples include:

  • GP clinic processing an occasional OVHC claim for an overseas visitor.

  • Practices that need to complete a claim or payment outside their usual integrated workflow.

How does it work?

  1. Keep your Tyro Health Pro Key in Integrated mode.

  2. Start the Private Health Insurance/OVHC claim by following the prompts on the screen

  3. Once finished, the Pro Key is ready for your next integrated transaction, no mode change required.

No integrated transactions can be processed while you are in the middle of a standalone transaction. To make integrated transactions, please make sure you navigate out to the home screen of the Pro Key.

Important: Manual reconciliation in your PMS

Any on-device (standalone) claims processed on the Pro Key are not automatically sent back to your PMS.

This means you may need to manually record/reconcile these claims in your practice management software (for example, adding them to the patient record or reconciling daily totals as part of your end-of-day process).
