Received an SMS from Tyro Health?

Information about Tyro Health SMS messages, including patient payments, claims, Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)

Written by Mitch

Tyro Health may send SMS messages to patients when they need to complete a payment or claiming action.

These messages may include links for:

  • payment requests

  • private health insurance digital claims

  • Medicare Assignment of Benefit

Tyro Health may also send SMS messages to healthcare providers and merchants that use Tyro Health as part of Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) when signing in to Tyro Health.

Why did I receive an SMS from Tyro Health?

You may receive an SMS containing a link from Tyro Health when:

  • You are a patient that has visited a healthcare provider that uses Tyro Health for payments or claiming, and you need to complete an action, including:

    • Pay an invoice via a secure Payment Link

    • Approve a private health insurance claim; or

    • Assign your right to benefit for a Medicare bulk bill claim.

  • You are a healthcare provider or merchant using Tyro Health services and the SMS contains a Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) code to verify your identity when signing in.

Why does the SMS say "Unverified"?

From 1 July 2026, new SMS Sender ID rules come into effect in Australia.

A Sender ID is the name that appears at the top of an SMS instead of a mobile number. For example, a message might appear to come from a business name, such as Tyro Health, instead of a phone number.

Under the new rules, businesses that send SMS messages using a branded Sender ID need to register that Sender ID.

Messages sent by Tyro Health should appear with the Sender ID "Tyro Health".

If you receive an SMS directing you to a Tyro Health website or asking you to complete an action that appears as "Unverified", do not click the link or use any authentication code.

If you're unsure whether the message is genuine, contact your healthcare provider or Tyro Health Support through the official Tyro Health website.

Is the SMS safe?

Before clicking a link or using an authentication code, check that the message relates to something you were expecting, such as:

  • a payment request from your provider

  • a private health insurance claim

  • a Medicare bulk bill claim Assignment of Benefit request

  • a Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) code requested when signing in to Tyro Health services

Be cautious if the message:

  • asks for your password or login details

  • asks for bank account details

  • contains an MFA code that you did not request

  • feels unrelated to a recent healthcare visit, payment, claim, or sign-in attempt

  • appears as "Unverified" and you were not expecting it

Tyro Health will never ask you to provide any details, such as your password by SMS.

What should I do if I'm unsure?

If you are unsure whether the SMS is genuine, do not click the link or use the authentication code.

Instead:

  • if the message relates to a healthcare payment, or claim, contact the healthcare provider you visited; or

  • contact Tyro Health Support through the official Tyro Health website.

Other Tyro SMS messages

If you are also a Tyro EFTPOS customer, you may receive separate SMS messages from "Tyro" relating to EFTPOS services, such as service notifications.

If you order EFTPOS terminals or accessories, shipping updates and tracking links are sent by Tyro's shipping partner, "Ingenico", and not by Tyro Health.

These messages are separate from Tyro Health patient payment, claiming, and Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) messages.
