How to process multiple patient claims

A guide on how to process claims for multiple patients that share the same policy.

When you have multiple patients covered under the same private health insurance policy, i.e. couples or family policy, you can process a single claim that includes all patients and accept the total gap payment in one transaction.

Requirements:

To process multiple patient claims, you'll need:

  • A Countertop EFTPOS terminal that is integrated with your Practice Management Software (PMS).

  • A PMS that supports multiple patient claim processing.

  • All patients must be covered under the same private health insurance policy

How it works:

Where the above requirements are met, you will have the ability to:

  1. Create a single claim that includes all patients on the policy.

  2. Submit the combined claim to the health fund.

  3. Accept the total gap payment in one transaction through your integrated Countertop EFTPOS terminal.

Important Note: Item codes must be set per patient, and the service provider must be consistent for each patient within the claim.
