What is an instalment plan?
Creating an instalment plan means you can take a payment split over a number of weeks or months right from your Tyro Health Online account.
The patient will be sent the instalment plan to view the details and add their card details, this card will be saved and charged for the future payments.
Note, instalment plans are subject to Tyro Health Online Payment fees.
Create an instalment plan
1. Navigate to 'Holds & Plans'
Log in to Tyro health Online. If you have not yet signed up for your free Tyro Health Online provider account, you can do so here. Then, select the 'Holds & Plans' tab - here you'll see any previously created holds or plans, with various filters and search options. Note, you must set up for Tyro Health Online Payments before creating a payment hold.
2. Add a new payment
After navigating to 'Holds & Plans', select '+ Add a new payment'.
Select the 'instalment plan' option ('hold' is default).
3. Set instalment plan options
Input the amount that will be split into more than one payment.
Choose the number of instalments this amount will be equally split into (you can enter the number directly or use the +/- buttons.
Select the frequency of the payments.
Note, once you enter the above, you can view the instalment plan schedule before creating the plan - this will show each instalment amount and date of payment.
4. Enter invoice and patient details
There's an option to add an 'invoice reference' number which can be useful if you're using a PMS not yet integrated to Tyro Health Online.
Choose from an existing patient record or enter the information for a new patient.
Payments are processed using our payment link functionality - you can either send the link via SMS or by generating the link and sending separately.
Select the location and provider (optional) this payment will be allocated to.
Select 'create instalment plan' and view the 'payment details' of the plan, including the status of the plan and each instalment.
Review status of an instalment plan
After you create an instalment plan, you'll see a 'payment details' page with all the details and status of each instalment - you can get back to this page at any time by navigating to the 'Holds & Plans' tab and choosing the plan you want to review. Note, this page is also where you can cancel an instalment plan.
Once you create an instalment plan, the plan goes into a 'pending' status which means the patient hasn't yet approved the plan or the first payment hasn't been processed.
An instalment plan is shown as 'active' when the patient has approved the instalment plan and the first payment is ready to be processed.
When all the instalments have been processed, the plan will show 'completed'.
Patient experience
After creating an instalment plan and sending the patient their payment link (e.g. via SMS), they'll be able to review the plan, including its amount, frequency, and number of instalment before entering their payment details.
Note, the first instalment payment is debited on the date the plan is created - not the date the patient approves the plan - and the patient only needs to approve the plan for every instalment payment to be processed, approval is not required for each instalment.
