Introduction to Tyro Health Online Payments

Tyro Health Online Payments allows your to process debit and credit card payments digitally without a physical EFTPOS machine. Digital card payments can processed as part of an integration claim submission as well as separately.

Businesses must be verified to use Tyro Health Online Payments and use an Australian bank account for settlement to be eligible. Visa and Mastercard credit and debit cards are accepted - Apple Pay and Google Pay via payment link.

Available payment methods

Once the amount has been entered or derived from a claim submission, you can choose from the following processing options:

  • Enter details - also known as 'Assisted Card Payments' or MOTO, you can directly enter the card details into Tyro Health Online (ensure you have authorisation from the cardholder).

  • Create link - generate a payment link for your patient's to complete payment using their smartphone, the link can be sent via SMS or copied and sent another way.

  • Terminal - send a payment request from Tyro Health Online to your connected Tyro terminal.

  • Other - this allows you to raise an invoice and take payment outside of Tyro Health Online, such as cash or a non-integrated terminal.

Note, EFTPOS cards (cheque and/or savings) are not supported through the 'enter details' or 'create link' options, but is available when sending a payment request to a connected Tyro terminal.


Funds will be deposited into your nominated bank account on the following business day - payments must be processed before 8:00PM AET to be included in the next business days settlement.

For example, a payment processed at 7:59PM on Monday will be deposited on Tuesday, while a payment processed at 8:01PM on Monday will be deposited on Wednesday.

Note, payment requests sent to a connected Tyro terminal are settled with all other EFTPOS transactions, seperate to Tyro Health Online Payments settlements.
