Depending on the claim type, there are various options available to process a patient’s out of pocket cost (also known as a gap or patient payment), excluding Bulk Bill claims.

Medicare Online Patient Claim (PCI)

Patient claims involve a treatment fee consisting of the item code's MBS fee in addition to a specified out of pocket cost determined by the provider. In Tyro Health Online, a provider can offer a patient or claimant two ways to settle their account within a single integrated claim submission:

  1. Pay the full treatment fee to the provider (at the time of appointment) using either an integrated Tyro terminal or one of our Tyro Health Online Payment methods. The patient or claimant will then have the benefit paid electronically into their nominated bank account by Medicare.

  2. Pay a partial amount or nothing and have the Medicare benefit amount be paid to the provider via a physical cheque mailed to the patient or claimant (Pay Doctor Via Cheque).
