Setting up PHI claims via Tyro Health Online (THO) will activate claiming at your location. This step-by-step guide explains how you can use our single onboarding process to set up:
Online (digital) only claiming: for providers at a location without terminals; or
EFTPOS and online claiming: enables providers at a location for both terminal and online claiming (if you have a Tyro EFTPOS Countertop terminal).
Before you start
Set-up via THO is not available to all businesses
If you signed up for Tyro HealthPoint via your Tyro EFTPOS terminal before May 2023, then unfortunately THO functionality isn't yet available to you. To make changes to your PHI claiming setup, please refer to our help centre article on adding providers.
If you signed up with Tyro before October 2021, online claiming may not be available because of your PHI claims settlement arrangement – find out if this affects you.

Enabling providers online and activating digital claiming requires signing up to Tyro Health Online – get started for free.
'Get started' in Tyro Health Online
1. Log in and navigate to ‘Tyro HealthPoint’
Select Get paid from the sidebar, then select Get Started on the HealthPoint tile. Note: If you do not see the HealthPoint tile, please contact us.
2. Confirm your business details
Confirm the business details for the location(s) from which you will be submitting private health insurance claims.
3. Verify your business owners
If you have not yet onboarded to another funder, or enabled Tyro Health Online Payments, you may need to complete our identity verification – find out more about our verification process.
4. Confirm your location details
This section shows the list of locations you have set up in Tyro Health Online and will be the options presented when adding your providers. You can add locations by clicking Add another location OR edit the existing locations by clicking Edit beside each location.
The email address for each location will be used to send electronic claiming remittance for all the providers submitting claims from that location.
Note: Do not edit the location address once providers are enabled and linked to that location. Amendments to an existing address will cause errors in claiming as existing providers will not be linked to the new address.
5. Confirm your provider details and settlement bank details
This section is for adding the details of all providers who will be processing private health fund claims at your location. You can add multiple providers in a single application form by selecting the Add another provider or Add another line button.
Ensure the uploaded provider letter or HPOS screenshot meets HealthPoint's requirements to avoid delays in processing your request. To see our guideline on accepted supporting documents, please click here.
Settlement bank details are captured for each provider and can be updated at any time from the Tyro HealthPoint settings.
6. Finalise
Click Confirm and Continue to be taken to a summary page, including the Tyro HealthPoint Acknowledge and Agreement. When you're ready, click Submit.
7. THO Payments
If you wish to process online claims, you’ll need to set up THO Payments after completing the get started steps for PHI claims.
All providers enabled at a location will be able to submit claims both online and via a Tyro EFTPOS Countertop terminal (where available).
Next steps
Application review
Once your application is submitted, providers will show as ‘pending’ until the application is reviewed. Once approved, the provider number will show as ‘active’. You may attempt PHI claims once approved however, please note that some Health Funds can take 1-3 business days to upload provider information.
How to submit PHI claims
If you try running a rebate estimate (quote) via THO, a successful submission means the provider number has been registered with that particular health fund - check out our step-by-step guides on how to submit online and terminal claims.
Processing terminal claims via THO
If you have a compatible PMS, you'll also need to set-up the integration to send claiming and payments requests to your terminal. If you don't have a compatible PMS, you can still send claim and payments requests by connecting your terminal to Tyro Health Online.
Managing providers for PHI claims
Use THO to add more providers, edit settlement bank details, and remove providers – check out our step-by-step guide on managing HealthPoint enabled providers.
